Vector Airplane Illustrator Tutorial2019-09-15 |
Check out our airplane vector tutorial, here you will learn the process in which was used to create this stylized illustration of a modern airplane using Adobe Illustrator.
Using the pen tool draw the basic shapes consisting of the wings, body, tail and fin of the airplane. For this step only create basic block shapes.
Now select the wings and give them a basic gradient, similar to the example above. Try to create depth in the indent of the centre of the wings.
Now using the pen tool draw some highlights that you would like to see on the planes body, try making them fluid so that follow the shape of the body.
Now blend the highlights into the body by using the feather tool (effect, stylize, feather).
Not give the body a gradient, use something similar to the example above.
Using the shape tools create a circle and add a stepped gradient to give the impression of depth in the rivets of the body.
Copy and paste the rivet several times as place them where you think is best, drop the opactiy of them to around 20% so that they blend into the gradient.
Now, create the face of the plane. Draw the shapes of the windows using the pen tool and give them a dark gradient, behind the window add another highlight using the same process we did before, give it an opacity slightly higher than previously to indicate the sun glare.
Creating the engines will be done in a few steps, first create a circle with a medium stoke.
Give the centre a radial gradient, exampled above, then give the stoke a linear gradient front light to dark.
Again using the pen draw a shape that represent the actual engine shape, use whatever colour you wish but try to give it a realistic shine.
Draw the inside of the engine with the pen tool and give it a slight linear gradient with black and white, feather this so that it blends with the inner gradient of the engine.
Now we will continue with enhancing the wings of the illustration. Draw some very basic shapes and give them a colour gradient similar to that of the engine base. Give it more dimension by adding a darker similar shape to the right of the piece.
Space the parts evenly along the wings.
Give the tail a similar colour gradient to the of the coloured part on the illustration.
Place the ccimpleted sections where the will be in the finished illustration.
To create the background draw a square and give it a radial gradient using different blues from light to dark.
Draw a circle for the sun and with a white and yellow gradient, feather this so that it looks more natural with the sky. You may also need to drop the gradient to achieve this.
Using the circle tool create layes or circles that make up the shape of a cloud, you decided the size of the coulds you want.
Feather the clouds significantly and lower the shapes opacity, you want them to blend and not be too prominent as to distract from the plane illustration.
Create as many clouds as you like and place them behind the plane, you can differ them in size, feather and opacity to give a more realistic effect.
